Lot 130:
Description
This is a US Mk 2 fragmentation hand grenade, commonly referred to as the pineapple grenade, dating from the World War II era. The grenade features a cast-iron body with deep external serrations designed for fragmentation. The assembly includes the fuse, safety lever, pull-ring, and safety pin. Faint traces of yellow paint are visible around the neck of the body, which served as the standard color-coding for high-explosive ordnance during World War II. A raised mark consisting of a capital letter S inside a circle is located on one of the rectangular cast segments of the body, a foundry mark attributed to the Seattle Foundry. The safety lever features a heart-shaped indentation, a manufacturing mark associated with M10 or M204 series grenade fuses. The item is deactivated and contains no energetic materials.
