Description
A World War I era US Army officer or NCO pistol belt rig comprised of several period components. The set includes an M1912/1917 pattern tan canvas web belt featuring darkened brass hardware and a T-style buckle fastener. Attached to the belt is an M1916 leather holster for the M1911 .45 caliber pistol, embossed with a US oval on the flap and stamped on the reverse G. & K. / 1917 / A.G. for the Graton and Knight Manufacturing Company. The rig includes a three-cell M1918 mounted magazine pouch in tan canvas, ink-stamped on the interior flap Gregory and Read Co. / Lynn, Mass. / 10-18. Also present is an M1910 canvas first aid pouch stamped R.I.A. 1917 for Rock Island Arsenal, which has been modified with a period-attached US Army infantry collar disk featuring crossed rifles. Contained within the pouch is a Carlisle Model first aid packet in a metal tin, manufactured by Handy Pad Supply Co. and Conray Products Company; the reverse is embossed with With Sulfanilamide, indicating World War II era production. The lot is completed by three steel half-moon clips for the M1917 revolver and two .45 caliber cartridges with REM-UMC 18 headstamps.
