Description
A pair of vintage aviator-style sunglasses manufactured by Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. of Rochester, New York. This set conforms to the AN6531 Type II military specification produced for the U.S. Army Air Forces and Navy during the 1940s. The eyewear features metal frames with a silver-tone finish, dark green glass lenses, a cream-colored plastic brow bar, and clear plastic nose pads. The nose pads are embossed with the intertwined BL logo. The accompanying protective case is made of brown textured leather with a felt-like interior lining and a metal snap closure. The exterior of the case is embossed with the manufacturer name Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. A partial paper label is affixed to the interior of the top flap, bearing the military contract designations AN-6531-G-401 and W535 AC-27054.
