Description
This item is a World War II era United States Navy aviator flight helmet, model NAF 1092. The helmet is constructed from dark brown pebbled goatskin leather with a multi-panel design and reinforced double-stitching. The interior is fully lined with light tan chamois leather and features thick, circular padded cushions within the ear sections. The exterior includes two leather ear cups designed to house radio receivers, each fitted with two black rubberized mounting grommets. Leather goggle straps with metal snap fasteners are located on the sides and rear. An integrated leather chin strap is present. External rubber-insulated communication wiring exits from the rear of the helmet. An interior black woven cloth label with yellow-gold embroidered text reads NAF 1092, CONTRACT NXs-1038, B-G, INC. A small white size tag is printed with the number 7.
