Description
A World War II-era US Army Air Forces Type A-11 intermediate flight helmet manufactured by Bradley-Goodrich Inc. The helmet is constructed from a dark brown sheepskin leather outer shell with a tan suede-style interior lining. The exterior left side features a gold-toned transfer of the US Army Air Forces winged star insignia above the text Army Air Forces. The helmet is equipped with black rubber earcups marked Front and three metal oxygen mask attachment snaps on each side. It includes an adjustable leather chin strap with a metal buckle. The interior features a sewn-in black fabric label with gold embroidery that reads: Type A-11, Spec. No. 3189, Size Small, P.O. No. (33-038) 44-6548-AF, Bradley-Goodrich Inc., Property of Air Force U.S. Army. This specimen retains its original communication equipment, including two Western Electric receivers marked Receiver ANB-H-1, a canvas-wrapped wiring harness, and a red plastic jack plug marked PL-354.
