Description
A US Air Force HGU-55/P flight helmet manufactured by Dunrite Tool and Die Inc. This example features a lightweight white composite shell and is fitted with a single retractable dark-tinted visor. The helmet includes a boom-mounted microphone and a coiled external communications cord terminating in a multi-pin connector. The interior is finished with black leather padding and integrated earcups. A metal manufacturer identification plate is secured to the right side of the helmet. The plate is inscribed: DUNRITE TOOL & DIE INC. / 125 ROME ST. / FARMINGDALE, N.Y. / P/N 60C4459 / F41608-85-C-1438. The contract number F41608-85-C-1438 corresponds to a 1985 United States Air Force procurement.
