Description
This World War II-era United States Army officer’s service visor cap was manufactured by Stetson and is designated as the Luxury Model. The cap is constructed with a dark olive drab (OD-51) wool elastique top, a material frequently referred to as chocolate wool. It features a matching mohair braid band and a russet leather visor. The adjustable russet leather chinstrap is secured by two gilt-brass buttons featuring the Great Seal of the United States. A large gilt-brass officer’s cap device, also depicting the Great Seal, is mounted to the front. The cap is constructed without a stiffening grommet, giving it a soft-crowned crusher silhouette. The interior features a russet leather sweatband and a clear moisture shield. Beneath the shield is a red manufacturer’s stamp with the text LUXURY on the top line, STETSON within a central banner, and MODEL on the bottom line. This would normally be found in the Big and Tall section….
