Lot 249:
Description
Imperial German Model 1916 (M16) Stahlhelm produced during the First World War. The helmet is manufactured from pressed steel and features the characteristic high crown and flared coal scuttle skirt. On either side of the crown are the prominent ventilation lugs, which were designed to serve as mounting points for the reinforced Stirnpanzer brow plate. The lower portion of the skirt retains the external rivets used for the attachment of the M91 chin strap posts, a primary identifying feature of the M1916 pattern. A partial original leather chin strap is attached to the shell, featuring a metal adjustment buckle. No maker codes, size stamps, or unit markings are visible on the exterior surfaces. The interior of the helmet is empty, as the liner and liner band are completely absent.
