Description
This US Army Air Forces Type A-2 flight jacket was manufactured by Perry Sportswear Inc. of Newburgh, New York, under contract A.C. Order No. 42-16175-P. The garment is constructed from brown leather and features a shirt-style collar with snap-down points and a metal hook-and-eye closure at the throat. The front is configured with two patch pockets featuring snap-flap closures and shoulder epaulets. The jacket is fitted with a brass Conmar brand zipper and a dark brown knit wool waistband and cuffs. The interior is lined with tan cotton fabric. The original woven label is present, identifying the drawing number as 30-1415 and the size as 40 on a secondary tag. Interior markings include the laundry mark L-1010 applied in black ink in at least two locations, a large hand-drawn letter L, and a faded circular inspector stamp.
