Description
This original World War II era Type A-2 leather flight jacket was manufactured by the Poughkeepsie Leather Coat Co. Inc. in Poughkeepsie, New York. It was produced under Army Air Corps contract number W535ac28560. The jacket is constructed from brown leather and features a front metal zipper with a leather wind flap, a snap-down collar with a hook-and-eye closure, and shoulder epaulets. Two front patch pockets with snap-down flaps are located on the lower front. The interior neck area contains the original black woven label with gold-colored thread identifying the manufacturer and contract. The interior leather wind flap bears a silver-colored stencil of the United States Army Air Forces wing and star emblem. The garment is finished with replacement light brown fabric lining and brown ribbed knit waistband and cuffs.
