Description
A custom-tailored US Air Force party suit associated with the 36th Tactical Fighter Squadron. The garment is constructed from a red cotton-blend twill in a short-sleeved jumpsuit style. It features a full-length front zipper closure, two shoulder epaulettes secured by buttons, and a single horizontal zippered pocket on the left chest. The right chest displays black embroidered text reading 36 TFS positioned above a black silhouette of a McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II aircraft. The left chest features white embroidered Senior Pilot wings with a central motif depicting a red sun rising over a mountain, with the initials J. W. embroidered in white cursive script below. The right sleeve bears a sewn-on Republic of Korea national flag patch, while the left sleeve features a sewn-on United States national flag patch with a gold-toned embroidered border. This type of garment was traditionally commissioned by aircrews for informal social functions and is attributed to the 1970s era when the squadron was stationed at Osan Air Base, South Korea.
