Description
This is a vintage Everdry brand match safe, also referred to as a vesta case, manufactured by the Park Sherman Co. of Springfield, Illinois. The item features a cylindrical body with a cap attached to a swiveling metal yoke or bail, allowing the lid to remain attached when opened. The upper portion of the cylinder is threaded to provide a moisture-resistant seal. The lower section of the container has a diamond-pattern knurled texture, which serves as a striking surface for strike-anywhere matches. The bottom of the item is stamped with a circular mark that reads PARK SHERMAN CO. along the top arc, Everdry in cursive across the center, and SPRINGFIELD, ILL. along the bottom arc. The item is constructed of nickel-plated brass.
