Description

A desirable early United States Air Force parachute assembly dating from the Korean War period, complete with its original heavy canvas kit bag and internal pack components. This style of chute and bag set was standard issue for USAF flight crews during the late 1940s through mid-1950s, including bomber, reconnaissance, and fighter personnel.

The heavy OD canvas kit bag features reinforced web handles, early USAF stencil markings, and a full-length metal zipper typical of parachute equipment containers issued in the first decade of the serviceÕs existence. The bag shows characteristic wear from storage and field use while retaining strong structural integrity.

Inside is the original parachute pack assembly, constructed of early USAF sage green nylon with reinforcing tapes, elastic loops, metal snap fasteners, and the recognizable internal pocket and harness mount points. The stencil reads Part No. 50J8072, a known Air Force parachute and survival equipment nomenclature from the Korean War period. Materials, hardware, and stitching patterns are entirely consistent with early jet-age USAF escape, bailout, or utility parachute gear.

Elastic webbing and interior harness elements remain present, showing expected age toning and field service wear. The assembly appears complete but should be regarded as a historical artifact, not for use.

This is a strong example of early USAF aviation survival equipment, seldom found with its original matching kit bag. Excellent for display with Korean War pilot gear, helmet collections, jet-era flight equipment, or aircraft crew survival groupings.
