Description
Exceptional theater made CBI Bush Jacket identified to Major James Westfahl, USAAC. Major Westfahl served in the 14th and 15th AF, will postings in China, Italy and North Africa. Complete service record is included which details his service as well as 30+ small pictures and approximately 200+ undeveloped negatives which appear to cover his service overseas and family while stationed in US. Appear to be many of him in uniform. The bush jacket itself is in perfect condition, near mint, with no mothing, rips or damage. Jacket has embroidered Captain bars and wing props sewn on as well as a theater made CBI patch on left sleeve and an AAC patch on right sleeve. Over the left breast pocket is a 6-place theater made ribbon bar as well as an embroidered Aircrew wing. As paperwork shows Westfahl was a qualified pilot but was too old for flight school upon enlistment so chose instead to attend flight crew training and was thus qualified for aircrew wings. Also included are some miscellaneous ribbons, patches, collar brass, etc. and a nice wooded desk name plaque with “Major James Westfahl” inscribed. The jacket is prominently featured in the bush jacket section of the book “More Silver Wings, Pinks & Greens” by Jon Maguire. An exceptional example of a CBI Bush Jacket in beautiful condition.
