Lot 244:
Description
The most eyecatching part of this bodice is its false collar. The false collars allowed the wearer to change the look of a dress without changing the entier garment and it is rare for the false collar to survive with its parent bodice. The peplum on this bodice is generous in the back, perfect to cover the full pleating of the skirting in the 1870s. Steel boning is intact and bodice is well constructed.
