Lot 247:
Description
Entirely hand sewn with no machine sewing found this is a truly unusual example of Civil War era clothing. The neckline and decorative treatment on the bodice front are clear examples of fashion of the time. The shoulders have piping detail and fringe ringing the bicep. The bodice back is flat construction – no fiddle back – and the skirt is heavily pleated at the piped waistline. The sweep will accomodate a very large hoop
