Lot 110:
Description
Historically rich World War II grouping belonging to George Buckley, as indicated by the inscription on the photo album cover, centering around a collection of his military awards and two photo albums providing visual documentation of his service in the European Theater of Operations ETO. The medals include a Purple Heart in its original case, the Good Conduct Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal EAME, all mounted with their respective ribbons, ribbon bars, and a Combat Infantryman Badge CIB, recognizing his frontline service. The grouping includes two key albums: a hardbound U.S. ARMY photograph album containing original period photos from his time overseas, and a postcard album with souvenir postcards from places like Rabat and Rome, confirming his unit s movements across North Africa and Italy. The photos in the U.S. Army album include personal portraits of soldiers in the field and images documented as being taken in FRANCE and Stamnes in April 1945, showing captured enemy equipment like a German Panzer tank and local scenery, offering a unique, documented look into the combat and service life of an American infantryman who was wounded in the ETO during WWII.
