Description
This is an authentic and heavily field-used World War II era U.S. Navy Corpsman First Aid Bag, also known as an Assault Pouch or Small Kit. The bag is constructed of a sturdy canvas material, likely khaki or olive drab in color originally, but now exhibits heavy staining, discoloration, and dirt consistent with extensive use in a combat theater, potentially the Pacific. The front flap is clearly stenciled in black with U.S.N. and features a hand-painted or stenciled Red Cross symbol on the front flap, identifying its medical purpose. The bag features an adjustable canvas shoulder strap and vertical securing straps on the front, with metal buckles and fittings showing appropriate age and patina. This bag was carried by Navy Hospital Corpsmen, who served alongside Marine and Army units in the field, making it a powerful and tangible artifact of WWII frontline medical service.
