Description
M-1936 Musette Bag and its companion M-1936 Combat Suspenders or shoulder straps. The musette bag is constructed of durable khaki canvas duck material and features the prominent U.S. stamp on the front flap. The interior stamping reveals key provenance information, identifying the manufacturer as FOX MFG. ENTERING CO., CHICAGO, ILLINOIS and bearing the clear date 1942, confirming its use during the period of American involvement in WWII. The bag was designed for cavalry officers but was widely adopted by all personnel, including officers and paratroopers, for carrying rations, personal effects, or extra ammunition. It is accompanied by its matching M-1936 suspenders, which feature metal hooks for attachment to the belt and D-rings, worn over the shoulders to help distribute the load of the belt and combat pack. This complete, dated set is highly desirable for collectors of U.S. WWII field gear and uniforms.
