December 7th Militaria and Aviation Auction
Lot 250:
Description
A fantastic, complete set of original World War II German Luftwaffe Windschutzbrille Wind Protection Goggles , specifically the highly desirable Model 295, housed in their original aluminum case. These goggles were a standard issue item for aircrew, particularly favored by air gunners in exposed positions and pilots in open-cockpit aircraft. The set is made by the highly recognizable manufacturer O. W. Wagener & Co., Rathenow, as clearly indicated on the case s data plate, along with the model designation Baumuster: 295.
The oval aluminum case is a collectible piece in itself, featuring the original black data plate with white text detailing the contents and manufacturer. The interior of the case retains the important paper label under the lid, listing the contents Inhalt and providing instructions for modifying the nosepiece. The goggles themselves are in excellent condition, featuring the distinctive oval metal frames mounted on a large, supple, single-piece face cushion. They include the elastic head strap and appear to have clear lenses fitted. The inclusion of the original, labeled case dramatically increases the desirability and presentation value of this authentic Luftwaffe artifact.
