Description
Original Toptex 3BM Jet Pilot s Helmet, complete with a specialized oxygen mask and custom paint scheme. The Toptex 3BM was an early hard-shell flight helmet utilized by US forces, possibly associated with testing or specialized units, before the widespread adoption of the HGU-series.
The helmet shell is painted in a base color of light tan or cream, over which a striking custom squadron or unit paint scheme has been applied. This pattern consists of alternating geometric designs in fluorescent orange and sage green/khaki, radiating from the crown, confirming its operational, personalized status. The shell is fitted with a functional dual-visor assembly and retains its leather edge-roll and interior comfort liner, all showing genuine operational wear.
The helmet is presented as a complete life-support assembly. A key feature is the attachment of the oxygen mask assembly, which includes a green rubber or composite facepiece secured by adjustable OD webbing straps. The mask is visibly marked with a label identifying the assembly as Sierracin Eng. Co. The mask connects to a heavy green corrugated breathing hose which terminates in a standard US Air Force/Navy quick-disconnect valve, covered by a green zippered canvas sheath. A dark OD canvas visor cover is snapped over the top of the helmet, adding to its operational aesthetic. This highly customized and complete helmet is a unique representation of Vietnam and Cold War jet aviation.
