Description

One of the nicer examples to be offered. No rips or ntable damage. Large wearable size. A classic and instantly recognizable piece of American combat uniform, this is an original World War II U.S. Army M-1941 Field Jacket jacket, Field, O.D. The M-41 was the first true American field jacket adopted on a massive scale for World War II, seeing service from the early days of North Africa and Sicily through the D-Day landings and the Battle of the Bulge. This example is made of the characteristic light olive drab cotton-poplin outer shell and features the thinner wool blanket lining that offered moderate insulation. Key features of the M-41 visible on this jacket include the button-up front with a zip closure underneath the zipper is concealed in the provided images but typical of the model , the single-point shoulder epaulets, and the two external slash pockets – hand-warmer style. The jacket shows honest field wear and patina, consistent with a uniform that saw service, including some staining and wear spots. The size tag in the collar area is partially legible, indicating a size, possibly 48 R, which is a desirable larger size. This jacket represents the standard fighting uniform of the American GI in the European Theater of Operations during 1942-1944.
