Lot 273:
Description
United States Marine Corps USMC Utility Jacket, identified as the iconic P-41 Pattern 1941 design, crafted from durable Olive Drab Herringbone Twill HBT fabric. This jacket is the definitive utility uniform worn by Marines from its introduction during World War Two through later 20th-century conflicts. The jacket is instantly recognizable by its classic three-pocket configuration: a single patch pocket on the left chest and two large, exposed patch pockets at the waist. The material displays the vertical striping characteristic of the HBT weave, faded to an appealing light olive green patina consistent with extensive washing and field use.
Most importantly, the left chest pocket displays the correct and desirable black stenciling: the letters USMC centered directly above the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor EGA insignia. This clear, correct stencil is the single greatest value-driver for this piece. The jacket is presented in honest, field-worn condition, showing genuine character, including small tears or holes on the shoulder area that testify to its hard service life. The overall construction is sound, with exposed buttons down the front, confirming its period-correct pattern. This piece is a quintessential representation of the USMC field uniform from the mid-20th century.
