December 7th Militaria and Aviation Auction
Lot 278:
Description
A functional and scarce piece of Pacific Theater equipment, this is an original pair of World War II United States Marine Corps USMC P-44 Olive Drab Herringbone Twill HBT Utility Trousers. These trousers were the standard fatigue uniform used throughout the later years of the war and saw continuous hard service. They are definitively identified as the P-44 pattern by their heavy-duty HBT construction and their unique, practical design which includes the integrated button fly and large, internal hip pockets designed for carrying rations and equipment. The hardware is correct, featuring the essential U.S. Marine Corps marked metal buttons and snaps visible on the fly and pocket areas. These trousers exhibit honest wear and fading, consistent with a uniform that saw service in the humid and demanding environments of the Pacific. Finding the P-44 utility trousers in this complete and serviceable condition, especially in the desirable olive drab HBT, makes this a prized artifact for any collector of World War II Marine Corps gear.
