Description
This lot consists of two vintage, unbuilt aircraft recognition model kits produced during the World War II era, specifically designed for military and civilian personnel training in aircraft identification. Both kits were manufactured by the Bureau of Aeronautics Aircraft Identification Section in Washington, D.C., highlighting their official government provenance as authentic WWII training aids. The first kit is for the Fighter – 2 Engines: German Me 110 Messerschmitt Bf 110, identified as Model No. I-17B, which includes its instructional sheet detailing the assembly of the twin-engine enemy fighter. The second kit is for the Fighter: U.S. Navy F4U Corsair, identified as Model No. CB-29, which details the construction of the recognizable American naval fighter. Both kits feature instructional diagrams and texts detailing their purpose and assembly, with all necessary pieces, typically die-cut wood or cardboard, contained within their respective original paper envelopes, making them rare and important historical artifacts.
