WINTER Sports Memorabilia and AUTOGRAPH Auction
Lot 98:
Description
A commemorative sports memorabilia plaque featuring a pair of unused minor league baseball ticket stubs for the Nashville Sounds. The first ticket, printed in blue, is for a game against Indianapolis on April 29, 1985, and features an image of Don Mattingly as the 1984 A.L. Batting Champion. The second ticket, printed in yellow, is for a game against Louisville on August 16, 1986, and features an image of Mattingly as the 1985 A.L. Most Valuable Player. The items are mounted on a dark wood-finish board under a clear acrylic cover secured by four brass-tone decorative fasteners. To the right of the tickets is an etched brass-tone metal plaque providing biographical information and commemorating Mattingly’s career milestones, including his 1984 Major League Batting Championship and 1986 American League All-Star Game appearance. The etched text on the plaque identifies the tickets as being from 1985 and 1987, though the physical yellow ticket is dated 1986.
Condition: The plaque is in good overall condition. Minor surface wear and light scuffing are visible on the wood edges, acrylic cover, and the metal plaque. The ticket stubs appear well-preserved behind the acrylic.
