WINTER Sports Memorabilia and AUTOGRAPH Auction
Lot 97:
Description
A commemorative memorabilia plaque honoring baseball player Don Mattingly and his tenure with the Nashville Sounds minor league team. The assembly consists of a dark wood-grain finish board mounting a collection of 1985 MVP vintage minor league baseball tickets under a clear acrylic cover. The tickets are secured by four decorative brass-tone fasteners. Visible tickets include an April 29, 1985, game against Indianapolis and an August 16, 1986, game against Louisville. Each ticket displays a color photograph of Mattingly in a Nashville Sounds uniform. To the right of the tickets is an engraved gold-tone metal plate. The inscription identifies Mattingly and notes the tickets are from the team where his career started, specifically commemorating his 1984 Major League Batting Championship and his 1986 American League All-Star Game appearance. The engraved plate references 1985 and 1987 tickets, while the visible tickets are dated 1985 and 1986.
Condition: The plaque is in good overall condition. There is light surface wear and minor scuffing consistent with age and handling to the wood-grain finish and the acrylic cover. The metal components show no significant oxidation.
