Description
This lot consists of two World War II-era flight logs belonging to Charles W. Sykes, an Aviation Machinist’s Mate (AMM) serving in the United States Navy Lighter-Than-Air (LTA) service. The primary item is an official Navy Aviators Flight Log Book, Form N. AER. 4111, featuring an orange cloth cover. The cover is inscribed with the owner’s name, rank, and branch of service. Internal entries from 1943 document operations with Blimp Squadron Twenty-One (ZP-21). The log records flights in ZNP type non-rigid patrol blimps, specifically identifying airships K-53, K-85, K-48, K-65, and K-86.
