Description
This is a World War II era mechanical aircraft cockpit clock manufactured by the Waltham Watch Company. The instrument is produced to the Joint Army-Navy specification AN 5743-1. The clock is housed in a square black-painted metal case designed for instrument panel mounting. The black dial features luminous Arabic numerals at the 12, 3, and 9 positions, with a green printed 8 DAYS mark at the center. A knurled winding and setting knob is positioned at the lower-left corner. The reverse of the case is marked with the manufacturer part number 22809-A, order number (30-053) 44-10446, and serial number AF-44-12394. The 44 prefix in the order and serial numbers indicates a 1944 production date. A circular white hand-stamp on the back contains the AN Army-Navy inspection mark and P158.
