Description
This military-issue portable pump canister was manufactured for the United States Army Air Corps by the Mirax Chemical Products Corp of St. Louis, Missouri. The item is constructed with a rectangular metal body, likely aluminum or an alloy. The side panel is embossed with the text MIRAX UNISTEL PUMP and MADE BY MIRAX CHEMICAL PRODUCTS CORP ST LOUIS MO. It also features a shield-shaped logo containing the Mirax name. The end panel is embossed with AIR CORPS U.S. ARMY. The top of the unit features two closures: one small knurled metal screw cap and one larger black ribbed composition cap, possibly Bakelite. Given the Air Corps designation, the item dates to the World War II era, prior to 1947.
