Description
German Seitengewehr 84/98 III combat bayonet, the standard-issue sidearm for the K98 rifle during World War II. The blade is constructed of carbon steel with a single fuller on each side. The hilt features a steel pommel and crossguard with two dark walnut wood grip scales secured by two slotted bolts. The accompanying steel scabbard includes a ball-tip finial and a frog stud. The blade ricasso is stamped with the serial number 5259 over a lowercase n. The front of the scabbard throat is stamped with the matching serial number 5259 n. The reverse of the scabbard is stamped with the manufacturer name F.W. HOLLER and the date 1938. The serial number 5259 is also repeated in an inverted orientation above the maker mark on the scabbard.
