Description
This is a United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) Type A-14 demand-type oxygen mask kit, manufactured by The Ohio Chemical & Mfg. Co. of Cleveland, Ohio. The kit includes the olive drab green rubber facepiece, an integrated corrugated oxygen hose with a metal connector, and an adjustable cotton webbing head harness featuring black-finished metal snaps and buckles. The facepiece is embossed with Demand Oxygen Mask Type A-14 Size Medium and includes manufacturer specifications and U.S. Army Air Forces attribution on the side. The mask is housed in its original cardboard storage box, which bears a printed label identifying the item as Specification No. 94-3163, Contract No. N288 s-23393, with a manufacture date of August 1944. The box features a line drawing of a pilot on the front and green-patterned reinforcement tape on the edges. Also present is the original brown paper envelope printed with Important This Envelope Contains Instructions and Accessories. This equipment was standard issue for American bomber and fighter crews during the latter half of World War II.
