Description
This lot consists of a World War II US Army Air Forces (USAAF) Type A-10A demand-type oxygen mask assembly, manufactured in May 1944. The mask is made of molded green rubber and is equipped with a corrugated oxygen hose ending in a metal bayonet connector. It includes the original olive drab webbing head harness with metal adjustment buckles. The mask body features molded markings including the Acushnet script logo in an oval, (TYPE A-10A DEMAND), SPEC NO (3134 A), ( 5 – 44 ), PROPERTY AIR FORCES, and US ARMY. The original cardboard box is labeled MASK, OXYGEN, TYPE A-10A, MEDIUM and indicates it was manufactured by Acushnet Process Co. of New Bedford, Massachusetts, and assembled and packed by Wilson Products, Inc. of Reading, Pennsylvania. The box displays Order No. 44-5434-AF and a manufacture date of 5-44. Also present is a yellow paper instructional envelope marked IMPORTANT Contains instructions / accessories.
