Description
This US Navy flight helmet assembly consists of an H-4 model hard shell helmet, a Type MS22001 oxygen mask, and American Optical flight goggles. The helmet features a gold-toned finish with a central US Naval Aviator insignia decal on the front crown depicting a shield and fouled anchor flanked by wings. It is constructed with an integrated internal liner, ear cups, and external communication wiring. The oxygen mask is composed of green rubber and is molded with the designation TYPE MS22001. It includes a corrugated breathing hose, internal microphone wiring, and a harness with bayonet fittings. A small metal plate on the mask harness is marked CTE. The flight goggles feature a dark frame marked American Optical Company on the top edge and are fitted with tinted lenses. This equipment configuration was standard for United States Navy and Marine Corps aviators during the Korean War and early Cold War period.
