Description
A US Navy H-4 flight helmet assembly. The unit consists of a gold-painted fiberglass protective shell worn over a cloth inner liner. The shell was manufactured by Bassons Industries Corporation of New York and features a stenciled US Navy winged anchor emblem on the crown. Personalization includes the name KOLA stenciled in black on the front and COMMANDING OFFICER stenciled in white block letters across the rear. The inner liner is a summer-weight flight cap, specification MIL-H-7151 (AER), produced by Slote & Klein, Inc. under contract N383s 87534. It includes an integrated communications headset with leather-padded ear cups and wiring terminating in a dual-prong plug. The assembly is fitted with an A-13A pressure-demand oxygen mask in green rubber, featuring a corrugated breathing hose and metal alligator clip connector. The interior of the mask contains two orange circular valves marked DOWN with white arrows. Also included is a pair of black-framed flight goggles with dark-tinted lenses secured by an elasticized strap. The interior of the shell contains a leather and webbing suspension system and a leather-padded chin strap.
