Description

A mid-20th-century US Navy or Marine Corps APH-6 dual-visor flight helmet, widely utilized during the Vietnam War era. The helmet features a white-painted fiberglass shell decorated with reflective tape in a chevron pattern on the forehead and a vertical stripe on the rear, using red and yellow/tan colors. The visor housing is equipped with a black metal side plate stamped with Federal Stock Number 1660-440-5553 and the logo for The General Tire & Rubber Company. The rear reflective tape is marked with the handwritten digits 830, likely representing a pilot or aircraft identification number. The helmet is paired with a green silicone MBU-5/P oxygen mask. This mask assembly includes a corrugated rubber breathing hose, metal bayonet connectors, and a black corded communication cable terminating in a multi-pin plug. The interior is fitted with a black padded liner and protective foam.
