Description
A WWII German Luftwaffe Type 33 flight helmet and associated Auer flight goggles. The helmet is constructed of dark brown pebbled leather with a thick, natural-colored sheepskin lining for high-altitude insulation. It features the standard configuration for Luftwaffe flight gear, including integrated ear cups designed to house radio receivers, though the receivers and internal wiring are absent in this example. The helmet retains its leather chin straps with functional metal buckles and the rear adjustment straps. A white fabric label sewn into the interior sheepskin lining is printed with the Reichsbetriebsnummer RB-Nr. 0/0915/5231, indicating production after late 1942. A purple ink stamp over the label denotes the head size as 55. The accompanying flight goggles feature dark rubber frames and clear glass lenses, held in place by an elasticized strap and secured through the leather loops on the helmet exterior.
