Description
United States Army Air Forces flight headgear assembly from the World War II period. The assembly includes a Type A-11 intermediate flight helmet and a pair of Type AN-6530 flight goggles. The helmet is manufactured from dark brown goatskin leather with a chamois-lined interior. A white decal on the left side features the USAAF winged star logo above the words ARMY AIR FORCES. The helmet is fitted with black rubber ear cups marked ANB-H-1 and includes four black-finished snaps on each side for the attachment of an oxygen mask. The Type AN-6530 goggles feature a plated metal frame with a bridge stamped A-N over 6530. The goggles are equipped with clear glass lenses and are secured to the helmet by an adjustable tan elastic strap.
