Lot 234:
Description
This is a short-brimmed boonie style bush hat featuring a tigerstripe camouflage pattern, a design frequently utilized by U.S. Special Forces and South Vietnamese units during the Vietnam War. The hat is constructed from a lightweight twill fabric with a multi-stitched reinforced brim. The crown includes two circular, mesh-screened ventilation eyelets on each side. Affixed to the front of the brim is an arched red cotton patch with yellow embroidery that reads SORRY ABOUT THAT VIET – NAM. On the interior underside of the brim is a small rectangular embroidered patch depicting the United States flag alongside the flag of the Republic of Vietnam. The interior is finished with a brown synthetic sweatband. There are no visible manufacturer labels, contract dates, or National Stock Numbers, which is characteristic of theater-made or locally produced items from the Southeast Asian conflict zone.
