Description
This lot consists of two off-white glazed ceramic commemorative mugs related to United States naval and maritime service. The first item is a commemorative stein for the United States Naval Academy Class of 1965. The front displays a gold-toned USNA crest featuring the class year 65 and a banner with the word Honor. The reverse features the number 22 in red outline behind a cartoon character of a sailor holding a large screw, with the word Gyrene printed in cursive below. This piece includes an ornate, sculpted handle and raised decorative scrollwork bands near the top and bottom. The second item is a personalized commemorative mug for a member of Oceanographic Unit 2 serving aboard the USNS Dutton (T-AGS-22). The front features a multi-color rectangular decal with two seahorses, a trident, and the number 2, along with the ship name and hull designation. The reverse features a black-printed United States Marine Corps Eagle, Globe, and Anchor emblem above the name Hawk. This mug features a D-shaped handle and a raised thumbprint pattern around the upper and lower circumference.
