Description
This original World War II-era political cartoon is executed in pen and ink and graphite on toned wove paper. The subject matter depicts four sets of hands, labeled Allied Forces in Northern France, Russian Forces, Allied Forces in Southern France, and Allied Forces in Italy, actively dismantling a large, three-dimensional swastika-like X symbol. The background features the block-lettered slogan Aggression Never Pays. Signed lower right: Franck. A pencil inscription along the upper margin reads ‘X’ Will Mark the Spot.
