Description
This limited edition offset lithograph by aviation artist Nicolas Trudgian is titled The Day of the Fighters. The subject depicts Focke-Wulf Fw 190 aircraft of I./JG-1 flying over a Dutch landscape featuring windmills and canals as they return from intercepting U.S.A.A.F. bombers during the Schweinfurt Raid on August 17, 1943. The print is hand-numbered 792/1000 in pencil in the lower-left margin. It features four hand-signed pencil signatures in the bottom margin belonging to the artist Nicolas Trudgian and Luftwaffe pilots Adolf Glunz, Gerhard Goeppel, and Alfred Grislawski. The image area contains a printed signature and date reading Nicolas Trudgian copyright 94. Centered in the lower margin is the printed title and a brief historical description of the scene. The print is professionally housed in a double mat of green and gold within an ornate gilt-finished wood frame.
