Description
A collection of thirteen 13 O-gauge toy train pieces manufactured by Louis Marx and Company. These items are constructed of lithographed tinplate and feature metal wheels and couplers. The lot includes one red streamlined locomotive in the Commodore Vanderbilt style, which houses a clockwork wind-up mechanism with a key slot located on the top of the boiler key not present . The accompanying rolling stock consists of one New York Central Lines orange and black Wrecker crane car with a manual hand-crank and hook; two New York Central Lines No.556 red cabooses; one NYC No.20102 red and gray large caboose; one yellow Northern Pacific No.1678 General Coal Co. hopper; one brown Pennsylvania No.738701 hopper; one red Pennsylvania No.738701 gondola; one green Lehigh Valley gondola; one green and red Rock Island No.552 gondola; one red and white Pennsylvania No.37961 Merchandise Service boxcar; one red Pullman Montclair passenger car; and one black flatcar with metal stakes. The Marx trademark logo, consisting of the letters M-A-R-X within a circle over the word TOYS, is embossed on the base of the crane car. Other various pieces feature printed markings for the New York Central Lines, Pennsylvania Railroad PRR logo, and respective road numbers.
