This vintage souvenir metal match safe, or vesta case, is constructed of a brass-toned metal. The piece features detailed embossed relief designs on both primary faces. One side depicts a flying fish with the vertical inscription FLYING FISH along the right edge. The reverse side shows a panoramic view of Avalon harbor on Santa Catalina Island, California, featuring the mountains, town, and boats. This side is inscribed at the top with the text AVALON ON CATALINA ISLAND CAL. The case is a lidded container with a hinge at the side. No manufacturer hallmarks or patent marks are visible.
