Description

A group of three brass tobacciana items dating from the late 19th century to the World War I era. The collection includes two rectangular vesta cases and one cylindrical pocket container. The first item is a rectangular brass match safe with rounded corners and a side-hinged lid. The second item is a cylindrical pill-shaped container with a friction-fit cap, featuring the word SOUVENIR incised on the reverse. The third item is a curved rectangular vesta case with a hinged lid, featuring engraved imagery of a crown on both sides. The crown design, characterized by its cross finial and jeweled arches, is stylistically consistent with the German Imperial Crown Kaiserkrone used during the 1871-1918 period. These items are characteristic of soldier personal effects and trench art souvenirs of the early 20th century.
