Description
This vintage waterproof match safe was manufactured by Marble’s Safety Axe Company in Gladstone, Michigan. The item is constructed of nickel-plated brass in a cylindrical form. It features a signature three-piece design consisting of a screw-on cap, a body with a central diamond-pattern knurled striker surface, and an external metal swivel bail attached to the base. This bail mechanism is designed to keep the cap attached to the body when unscrewed. The base of the unit is stamped with manufacturer information and a patent reference. Markings on base: MARBLE’S GLADSTONE MICH. U.S.A. PAT’D. 1900.
