Description
A panoramic-style monochrome photograph depicting approximately 45 servicemen of the 3rd Fighter Unit, 1st Training Group, United States Army Air Forces. The group is posed in two rows on an airfield tarmac in front of a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter aircraft. The aircraft displays the number 385 on the nose cowling. Personnel are shown in summer khaki service uniforms, with officers wearing visored service caps and enlisted men in overseas caps. Several individuals feature visible USAAF Winged Star shoulder sleeve insignia. The bottom white margin contains printed text identifying the unit, date, and location: 3RD. FIGHTER UNIT ~ 1ST. TRNG. GP. JULY 28, 1943 FOSTER FIELD, TEX.
