Description
This is a German military first aid pouch, known as a Sanit?tstasche, manufactured by Hermann Katsch of Munich. The pouch is constructed from vegetable-tanned brown leather with contrasting cream-colored saddle stitching. The reverse features two integrated belt loops and a central pull-tab mechanism designed for rapid access to contents. The side closure consists of a leather strap secured by a metal stud. The interior is lined with tan leather and contains various slots for medical supplies. A printed paper label is pasted to the underside of the lid, listing the required medical contents in German, including Terpentin?l (turpentine oil), Salmiakgeist (ammonia), Salicyltalg (salicylic tallow), and Opiumtinktur (opium tincture). The rear of the pouch is embossed with the maker mark HERM. KATSCH M?NCHEN. A single character S is stamped on the underside of the top flap.
