Description
This lot features a United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) flight headgear assembly from the World War II era, comprising an AN-H-15 summer-weight flight helmet and a Type A-14 demand oxygen mask. The helmet is constructed of tan cotton twill and features a black-inked USAAF wing-and-star insignia on the left side with the text ARMY AIR FORCES printed below. It is equipped with black hard-shell ear cups embossed with PROPERTY U.S. GOVT. designed to house R-14 receivers. The oxygen mask is a Type A-14 demand-style mask made of olive drab rubber, embossed with the word DEMAND on the lower portion. The mask is secured to the helmet via adjustable green webbing straps and metal hardware. A corrugated rubber oxygen hose is attached to the mask, terminating in a metal bayonet-style connector. The assembly includes a leather chin strap with a fleece padding.
