December 7th Militaria and Aviation Auction
Lot 4:
Description
This specialized lot features a compelling collection of US Military Insignia, focused on units that served in the Pacific and Korean theaters, particularly the 1st Cavalry Division and Military Police MP elements. The collection includes a total of approximately 20 pieces, combining patches, metal insignia, medals, and a Korean War era tanker photograph.
A centerpiece of the collection is the large, embroidered 1st Cavalry Division shield patch, recognizable by its yellow and black color scheme and the silhouette of a horse s head. The lot also features multiple Military Police MP insignia, symbolized by the red and white octagonal shields, including full-sized and miniature pins for the Support Command and the 9th Division MP. An embroidered curved patch for SUPPORT COMMAND is also present.
A cluster of insignia is dedicated to specialized units and service distinctions. This includes a circular Vietnam War era Air Force patch C-130 Troop Carrier Squadron, a detailed metal badge for the Light Sweep Accurate unit, and a small Air Force star pin. Service awards include several suspender ribbons and a medal featuring a blue and white striped ribbon, indicating either achievement or service. The collection also highlights service in Korea with multiple pins for the DMZ Demilitarized Zone and the Combined Field Army ROK/US, alongside a historical Korean Flag patch. A unique inclusion is a vintage black and white photograph showing US soldiers standing on a tank, which adds an element of personal history to the group.
